Privacy Policy — Flee

This Privacy Policy explains how Sumit Chandra Paul and Ritabrata Dhar (“Flee,” “we,” “us”) handles information in connection with the Flee: Flee from Lust mobile application (the “App”). Flee is a Christian recovery tool that helps people quit pornography through scripture, app-blocking, and in-the-moment coping tools.

Our core principle: most of your data never leaves your device. Your onboarding answers, journal entries, prayers, reflections, and the list of apps you block are stored locally on your iPhone (and within Apple’s private on-device frameworks). We do not operate a server that stores your personal recovery data.

1. Who we are (Data Controller)

The data controllers are Sumit Chandra Paul and Ritabrata Dhar, India. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at ujackapp@gmail.com.

2. What we collect, and where it lives

a) Stored only on your device (we never receive it)

Onboarding answers: first name, age range, sex, denomination, relationship-with-God responses, and recovery-intake answers (how long you’ve struggled, age of first exposure, relapse frequency, longest prior streak, and symptoms you select such as shame, anxiety, sleep disruption, or numbness toward intimacy).
Your content: journal entries, prayers, reflections, written commitments/covenants, and “reasons to quit.”
Progress: sobriety streak, milestones, cross collection, reading history, in-app activity.
App-blocking data: handled entirely within Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls framework. By Apple’s design, even we only ever see opaque tokens — never the real identities of the apps you block.

This data stays on your device. We do not transmit it to our servers (we don’t run one for it).

b) Sent to third parties for app functionality

Analytics (Mixpanel) — anonymous, and only about the onboarding flow. We send: a randomly generated anonymous ID, your device model/OS, app version, subscription status (premium yes/no), and which onboarding screens you reach. No names, journal text, prayers, or answers to the sensitive questions above are ever sent to Mixpanel. Mixpanel does not use this to track you across other companies’ apps. Paywall & subscriptions (Superwall) — receives the same anonymous ID, your platform, and subscription status to present and manage offers. Privacy policy: https://superwall.com/privacy
Payments (Apple) — subscription purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your card or full payment details.

c) Device permissions you may grant

Screen Time / Family Controls — to block apps (on-device, as above).
Notifications — to send reminders you opt into.
Camera — only if you use the Bible-scan feature; images are processed on-device and are not uploaded.

We do not use Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA), we do not show ads, and we do not sell your data.

Special-category data. Some answers reveal your religious beliefs and information about your sex life. Under the GDPR these are “special category” data with extra protection. We rely on your explicit consent to process them, you can decline, and you can withdraw at any time. This data is processed on your device for your own use; we do not receive it.

If your device region is in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any analytics are collected, and default to OFF until you agree. Everywhere else, first-party product analytics are on by default. You can turn analytics on or off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Legal → Share Anonymous Analytics.

We share data only with the service providers named in Section 2(b) (Mixpanel, Superwall, Apple), who act as our processors and only as needed to run the App. We may disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a business transfer (you would be notified). We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. International transfers

Mixpanel and Superwall process data on servers in the United States. Where you are in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, such transfers are made under appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) in our agreements with these providers. You may request details at ujackapp@gmail.com.

7. Data retention

On-device data: kept until you delete it in the App (Settings → “Erase All My Data”) or delete the App.
Analytics: retained by Mixpanel for up to 12 months.
Subscription records: retained by Apple per Apple’s policies.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR/UK GDPR; California CCPA/CPRA; India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023; and others), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing of your data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because your sensitive data lives on your device, you can exercise access/erasure directly:

Erase everything: Settings → Privacy & Legal → Erase All My Data.
Withdraw analytics consent: Settings → toggle off Share Anonymous Analytics.

For anything else, email ujackapp@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. EEA/UK users may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority; Indian users may contact the Data Protection Board of India. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California (CCPA/CPRA): In the past 12 months we “collected” the categories described in Section 2 (identifiers, usage data). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

9. Children

Flee is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact ujackapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

10. Security

We rely on Apple’s on-device protections (app sandbox, device encryption, the Family Controls framework) and transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for data sent to our processors. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but keeping sensitive data on-device materially reduces risk.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date and, where required, by an in-app notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
